Job purpose

The RSA Dispatcher’s primary responsibility is to coordinate the scheduling of trucks / drivers to meet the delivery needs of an assigned multi-branch territory (external / internal) in the most efficient manner possible. Secondary function is to act as a reliable communication link between the branch and customers.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Act as a key leader in management to ensure optimum communications between the Branch Management, Operations Management, Sales and customers in an assigned service area.
  • Utilize ONPoint to schedule all deliveries and transfers for assigned cluster of branches
  • Manage, plan, organize, coordinate, and schedule Drivers and Helpers based on customers, location, and materials
  • Determine adequate jobsite time durations for each delivery
  • Review orders and ensure delivery information is correct (Promise Dates, Delivery Addresses, Delivery Types, etc.); communicate any changes required to appropriate sales person
  • Communicate schedule to home branch and satellite branches; make any / all required changes
  • Monitor the progress of all deliveries via GPS data
  • Resolve delivery issues and/or provide additional guidance and directions as needed
  • Manage truckload weight limits to be within DOT regulations
  • Counsel Regional/District Management on areas where we can improve driver/fleet efficiency and customer service
  • Identify risk areas and present solutions to management
  • Manage the delivery process for multiple locations
  • Adhere to and promote all Beacon’s safety standards
  • Maintain adherence to union contracts (where applicable)
  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • 5+ years of experience in an Operations/Warehouse Management role
  • 2+ years of dispatching experience in a fast-paced, customer driven environment
  • Experience with logistics management systems
  • Experience as a CDL driver is preferred
  • Experience in the building products industry is preferred
  • Bi-lingual is a plus
